So What Makes An Actor Successful?

Some may say it is talent. Some may even say its beauty. I say its persistence. Rejection is the #1 enemy and best friend of the actor. Everyone knows that you shouldn’t be in this business if you can’t take the rejection.

Have you heard the many reasons why you didn’t get the job? By now, I think that I’ve heard them all. How about these for starters: You’re too tall, too blonde, too brunette, too flat-chested, too busty… The list is endless. These comments are enough to make a person eternally insecure.

So why do we continue putting ourselves through the misery? Is it because we enjoy having doors slammed in our faces? Do we enjoy waiting tables and working odd hours in order to make that occasional audition? No. We are professionals, not only in our field but, also at holding out hope. We believe that every rejection gets us one step closer to a job. You never know when your look and talent is just what they are looking for and that one break might change your life. That dream of that one break makes everything worth it.
